Does anybody have knowledge or evidence that after 1919 and in the 1920s British or French officials paid bonus (boni) to farmers or battlefield metal collectors for finding dead/ remains on the former battlefield. I have heard of British payment in Flanders of 10Francs for a Brit soldier, 5 Franc for a French soldier and 1 Franc for a German soldier. Also- is there anything known of cheating the officials by "selling " German remains with deliberately added British uniform equipment parts like buttons, badges etc in order to receive the higher British soldier bounty?

Excellent thank you again. I hope somebody will respond. I received this information from Flemish friends who heard the story from their Grandfathers, who roamed the battlefields in the 1920s.
