Bonjour,

"Bonsoir" Robert,
What do you want exactly ? What are: "les souvenirs municipaux français de guerre" ? grave-yard ? public building ?
You can write in english: it's more easy for you...
"Bien à vous" (= good to you),
Achache.

Achache,
Apologies for my poor French, I was trying to be courteous to the Forum which is in the French language, and I am very aware of the myopic English attitude to any foreign language!
I am eager to find on what town war memorials these two soldiers are commemorated, and in the case of Douillet where he is buried. That is I hope a starting point for further research.
I am very grateful for your interest,
Kind Regards,
Robert

all right, Robert...
No matter for the language... the French language is so difficult !...
I have not found the memorials; but:  see on this Forum, § Pages memoire - necroples MPLF -MDH, I ask for... in french.
Good luck !
Bien à vous,
Achache.

Achache,
I hope I didn't offend you, I will try French better in future! Thank you for the reference on the Forum, very interesting. I visited where Douillet was killed in the summer, the Ferme de Beausejour near Suippes but it seems to be in a military camp so I found nothing! Did French newspapers carry photos of soldiers who had died?
KInd Regards,
Robert

Bonsoir Robert
Have you seen ??? very good answer on the § Pages memoire - necroples MPLF -MDH:
there is the name of Albert DOUILLET on a beautiful memorial in a church of Liévin !
But I am afraid that it would be very difficult to find photos...
Yes, "the Ferme de Beauséjour" is now in a military camp: impossible see it.
Bien à vous,
Achache

Achache,
Your help is much appreciated. I have looked at the pages on Lievin and they are just what I was looking for.
My interest in Douillet is because I have his 3 medals and his scroll 'Aux Morts de la Grande Guerre.'
As for Thomas I have his photo and we visit Neuilly St. Front Cemetery regularly and leave a poppy cross in his memory. I would very much like to know exactly where he is remembered; his form suggests the St Malo/Caulnes area,
Kind Regards,
Bob

Robert,
The campe de suippes is open to the public for one day every two years.  I also had a great-uncle who was killed at the battle of Beausejour Farm on the first day of the 2nd battle of Champagne.  I believe this typically happens in the Fall (September?).

This is very interesting, thank you.
May I ask some questions, please?
1. Is Buhulien south-east of Lannion?
2. What is Bets?
I have been to Neuilly-St. Front cimitiere, but is it possible for you to get a photo of the Bois de la Justice?
I have a photo of Emile if you would like to receive a copy,
Bob
